Rainbow: Perspective on God's promise

Rainbow:  Perspective on God's promise

The Readings at Church yesterday (Feb. 18th, 2018, 1st Sunday in Lent)  included God's promise to Noah and all creatures. It is God's "bow" in the sky, the rainbow, that never again will the flood waters destroy the earth and the living creatures (man and animals).

A perspective that came up in a Scripture study group:
A rainbow is a visual effect seen through rain and light. We cannot see the rainbow in darkness.
Reflection: When we are in darkness (even keeping ourselves distant from God), it is difficult to see God's blessings and promises and Presence. And distanced from God (by our own choosing/design) its easier to get overwhelmed by the floods (of varied) things that come our way.

AND: by our Baptism we are joined in communion/community. We are part of something bigger than ourselves, our family. We've transitioned from a creature of God to a Child of God; we are part of God's family, reconnected, reconciled, restored to fullness of life.
