A New Habit – Living “Trust”

A New Habit – Living “Trust”

The things we perceive build up a foundation in us and affect our future actions.  What we “trust” influences our choices in such an incredible way.

Our beliefs and what we trust in become a habit in life that are relied on to be ingrained into simple acts performed.  So many of the things we do may be unconscious efforts that get so much done.

An act of turning on or off a light proves that.  We flip a switch or press it and the light accomplishes the act we want.  I do that while believing and trusting that someone has done what it takes, behind the scenes, for the action to occur.

In one class as I used this explanation, then a smart-aleck kid said, “what if you turn on a light and it flashes on and then goes out?”  I responded, “So would you stop using electricity because of that?  Or would you change the bulb and move on?”

One of the later proofs I’ve used is a cell phone.  I show it to a group and ask what it is used for.  They answer calling someone or texting or looking up something or playing games, etc.  I then ask if they know how, and most don’t.

We don’t have to understand something completely to be able to use it.  I use these examples and others to explain faith, and how we can believe and trust in something beyond our comprehension.
