More Than “Just A ______”
(Volunteer,
Catechist, ______)
What we do
and are comprise a part of us and not the totality of our being. The components of our makeup are merely building
blocks to the foundation of the person we’ve become.
One of the things
I do is volunteer at a hospital. In that
capacity I am a “greeter” welcoming people, finding wheelchairs and bringing
them to the lobby, and delivering items to nurse’s stations for patients.
Another role
I’ve played is a “Catechist.” That meant
I led Religious Education classes for children, youth and adults. In that I was a storyteller, and explained
religious items and practices. I also
asked questions to let participants come to their own conclusions.
Each of us
is part of the growing in faith process for others. We are God’s way of reaching out to people,
and being blessings. Also things that
are prayed for are answered with messengers sent.
