Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Olam

Recently I heard, “When we do, we are Tikkun Olam, repairers of the world.”  We have many opportunities to fix things within our grasp, and set things right by our contributions.

On a show I heard:  "The best way to help yourself is to put your arm around someone else."  As I faced challenges, I prayed; and the answer I received was “Go find someone to help.”  I did so, and when I came back to my own situation very little may have changed, but I was different.

And my approach to handling the problem is affected differently.  I am able to be a “repairer” in a varied way.  And that “different way” gives me a newer perspective which may share an outlook that blesses others.

Receiving a gift from another adds to our lives in ways we previously did not expect, maybe filling us with hope.  When we accept challenges as potential possibilities and make our dedication and effort a part of what we do much is accomplished.

Being on pace to become the best version of ourselves our needed focus should be on making the situations functional.  So much is broken in our community and waiting for our repairer handiwork; be Tikkun Olam!

Tikkun Olam -- Tikkun olam (Hebrew: תִּיקּוּן עוֹלָם, lit. 'repairing of the world') is a concept in Judaism, which refers to various forms of action intended to repair and improve the world. In classical rabbinic literature, the phrase referred to legal enactments intended to preserve the social order.
