Im-PRAY-sive Words
The words we
use in prayer can be great or not, they can be ones we fumble through or are quite
eloquent. They could be just a
conversation with a friend.
The main
thing is that we are comfortable in the wording used. They have to be ones that fit our lifestyle
and are ones we’re used to.
We can look
at what works for others to get ideas, but if it doesn’t fit our own life, it
won’t last long. We have to make it our
own for it to take hold. It has to
impress upon us a great image and become important to each of us to become a
part of our regular routine.
It has to be
scheduled regularly for us to remember to do it or it won’t happen. Someone once said “We don’t plan to
fail. We fail to plan.” We have to plan to have regular prayer time,
whatever that is, to make it happen.
And that “prayer”
can change over time as we get more used to it.
The rote prayers may have a spot, the conversational prayer may have it’s
place, or being in silence and listening might become important too.
We should
not be telling God what we want all the time.
We can also listen to God tell us the plan at times too.
